Krabby Patties

Published to Blog on 17 May 2006

Having just finished up a lunch composed mostly of a couple of Boca burgers I thought I would pass on a “tip” for those with children who are fans of Cartoon Network and specifically SpongeBob SquarePants.

We keep a couple of boxes of Boca Burgers on hand because they are simple to prepare for a quick snack or meal and it’s nice to give the kids a break from real burgers every once in a while.  While it may not be super healty, it still makes me feel like a better parent to do so.

But rather than serving up these tasty morsels as non-meat burgers, soy burgers, vegetarian burgers or some other unappetizing description, try serving them up as “Krabby Patties” instead.  Of course we (and they) know that it is all the same thing, but it at least makes it somewhat interesting for them.  A rose by any other name may still be a rose, but a child will find a Krabby Patty much more fun and appetizing than a Boca Burger or Vegetarian Burger.

While this “trick” might be more of a hit with smaller children, my kids are 7 and 14 and they still enjoy the illusion. In fact, we call them nothing but Krabby Patties.
