I've read a little of both sides of the Podcasting debates and I can tell you that I really don't care one way or another. It's not something that I'm really interested in, I don't really see it affecting me in the near future (but I said the same thing about blogging a couple of years ago :), and who am I to tell someone that their ideas are stupid or not. Go for it. Hell, let them eat cake! I don't see it being all that great or revolutionary, but who am I to judge? They can spend their time doing...
Sorry, it's an old (and very bad) joke and I couldn't resist. Seriously, I am very hoarse today because I spent last night at Paul Brown Stadium watching the Cincinnati Bengals kick some Denver Bronco butt on Monday Night Football! Apparently I must have yelled a bunch. It was a blast; that was the most fun I've ever had at a football game. Winning is good. I have to tell you that we stood (as did most of the crowd) for the entire game - we sat down during halftime and a few times during TV timeouts...
I found this beauty today via Mike Gunderloy's Daily Grind : http://ryanfarley.com/blog/archive/2004/10/25/1127.aspx Nice. I will have to play around with this a bit. Could prove to be useful. Share this post: email it! | bookmark it! | digg it! | kick it! | live it!
Which File Extension are You? I hope the rainbow effect is not supposed to be significant of anything in particular :( Share this post: email it! | bookmark it! | digg it! | kick it! | live it!
I read a post by Matt Hawley yesterday that he was uninstalling the Google Desktop because he had some security concerns and he specifically pointed to this post by Franci Penov . Those are exactly the type of reasons that I didn't install it in the first place. I read a couple of blogs about how great it was and how when you did a search on google it would append search results from your desktop, email, browser history, etc, into your search results from Google. I guess that's kind of cool, but...
This version of the story is pretty funny, but the one being shown on the local news is hilarious even though it doesn't cast a very nice light on Miami University (my alma mater BTW). Apparently the guy got drunk, forgot where he put his car, decided the police must have towed it, and then called 911 seven times to complain and curse. A local news station showed the transcripts from the 911 calls and apparently the guy was really ticked off about the police towing his car and he was really drunk...
WooHoo!! Cincinnati beat out 60 other US cities to get the Beer Hall of Fame ! Interesting quote from the article: ... when the Germans came to Cincinnati back in the mid to late 1800s they were thirsty. "The per capita beer consumption in Cincinnati was higher than any other place in the country people here just drank a lot of beer." Hmmm... things haven't changed much. The only down side is they are putting it in the Tower Place Mall. Why is that bad? A few years ago I used to work across the street...
For those local Cincinnati area developers that read my blog but not James Avery's (all two of you), he is starting a new Cincinnati .NET User Group (CINNUG) . The first meeting will be November 16th, at 6:00 PM at MAX Technical Training in Norwood. James will be doing a presentation on MONO. See his announcement for more details. Hope to see you there. Paul Wilson writes about keeping software (and especially APIs) simple . I may not be completely on the same side of his ongoing O/R mapper discussions, but I'm totally on board with his ideas on this subject. Share this post: email it! | bookmark it! | digg it! | kick it! | live it!
As much as I hate to burst some bubbles I was not the inspiration for this flash-based game , though I know a couple of people who could have been! Thanks to RoudyBob for the link. Share this post: email it! | bookmark it! | digg it! | kick it! | live it!
We, Onlinefocus , are trying to standardize on one Rich Text Editor type of control. Being the lead developer who will be implementing them, by default I am in charge of choosing which one it will be. I still hoping to find an article where someone else has already done the dirty work and put together a little comparison and/or graded the tools, but if not then I may just publish my own experiences. Here is what I will be looking for: control is freeware, open source, shareware, or inexpensive; control...
I would like to thank Clark of Marpanhou for being my one true subscriber - I can tell by the occasional “My Yahoo“ hit showing up in my blog stats. Thanks, Clark. You make it all worthwhile :) BTW, if you need any SQL Server setup, SQL query syntax, stored procedure, or any other questions relating to MS SQL Server, Clark is your answer man. Well, actually he is my answer man, but I thought he might help others, too. That reminds me, I owe him one for solving a problem for me a week...
Mike Gunderloy's Query Analyzer Tips and Tricks Clearly, I have been seriously under utilizing (and probably underestimating) my friend, Query Analyzer. Mike Gunderloy is my hero. Share this post: email it! | bookmark it! | digg it! | kick it! | live it!

GDesktop musings by kunal. I love Google. I like GMail. I could learn to love a new browser (I have already done so with Firefox) if it was done right; and I'm sure it will be. But a GDesktop?!?!? Really?!?! I wouldn't be surprised. Those guys are good. I'm not sure if I'm appalled or excited by the thought. I know, if nothing else, that I am intrigued.
