Announcing theBestWebStuff.com
Today I started a new blog site:
TheBestWebStuff.com
Along with building web sites I have also become the unofficial system
administrator, software installer, hardware installer, network
technician, and basic troubleshooter for all my friends and family.
Over
the years I have put in many hours helping others get all the basic
stuff setup on their computers: firewalls, anti-virus software, spyware
protection, and other utilities for a fruitful life. However, because I don't have an unlimited amount of free time I
sometimes have to turn people away or leave them with only a few words
of advice and a list of URLs. Many times I've wished that I had a
script or a "how-to" that I could hand out to help.
TheBestWebStuff.com will become that resource.
Of course, being geared more toward the novice computer user, it won't be a must-read for many of the readers of this blog. But there is some excellent writing going on over there and more to come :)
While I love me some
Community Server (as is evident by this site), I decided to try something else for the blog-only site. I gave
SubText a try. I have to say that SubText is great and it was pretty easy to get up and running. I was a previous happy user of .Text for quite a while so the learning curve was pretty flat, but SubText has really taken over where .Text left off. Public thanks to
Phil Haack for taking a great platform and making it better.
(BTW, Phil, I will be coming you to advice on adding tag support to the code - digg, reddit, etc. And I may have a couple of tidbits to add to the code base as well that have to do with page meta descriptions).
