Could not load type 'System.Web.Security.SqlProfileProvider'
Thankfully James Shaw wrote a post about this a bit back . His was the only result returned when searching Google for the error message. The answer: It's System.Web.Profile.SqlProfileProvider not System.Web.Security.SqlProfileProvider. Share this post: email it! | bookmark it! | digg it! | kick it! | live it!

I hate garage sales
I hate garage sales
I don't mind them when other people have them - occasionally I'll look for the hidden diamond in the rough. I hate when we have them. My wife is adamant about having a garage sale each spring and each fall. Each time it is an exercise in futility. Her announcement of a garage sale is always followed by several days of my griping about how they are not worth it, we should just take the stuff directly to the Salvation Army to save ourselves the trouble, or we should just throw the junk out...
How to get a bit more technical
How to get a bit more technical
Jim Holmes put out a great post recently "Changing Jobs? Evaluate Where You're At (And Fix It!)" . While the post is basically Jim's story of how he got himself up to snuff so he could go out and get the job he wanted it is a great roadmap for anyone looking to do the same as well as a reminder to all of us to stay connected. I do and have done many of Jim's recommendations. I have to admit, though, that of the six books that Jim says are vital I have only read two. Darn - there...
Hot IDE
Hot IDE
After reading Ken Robertson's post about adopting Jeff Atwood's fonts and color settings for Visual Studio 2005 and loving it, I figured I would give it a shot, too. Heck, if it's good enough for Ken Robertson then it's good enough for me. I, too, love the changes. I did make a few modifications, though. The background color was a little too grey for me, I had to give it a bit more white, changing from 248/248/248 to something like 252/252/252. I also made the highlighting for strings...
A Developing Cliff-hanger
A Developing Cliff-hanger
For those of you not into Community Server (shame !!!) and don't follow Jose Lema (but do follow me?) I have a couple of things to say to you: 1. what the heck is wrong with you !?!?! 2. Hi, Mom. 3. Jose is putting together a great series on building a mod (or maybe a mod engine) for Community Server . But even if you disregard Community Server it is still worthwhile reading for the entertainment value alone. He's taking an interesting approach - he's taking time to provide his thought...
Old dining room, new office (first couple of days)
Old dining room, new office (first couple of days)
Remember when I said that I was surrounded by piles of computer pieces, odd parts, CDs, stacks of paper, etc ? I wasn't kidding and here are the pictures to prove it: The day before these pictures were taken I was using the old dining room table as my desk. That table has since found a new home - someone else's home. Here you can see part of an old student desk, which I am currently using. That desk should be by something decent this weekend. The office doesn't look anything like these pics anymore...
Fall project - finish basement
Fall project - finish basement
As promised , here is one pick of my starting point in the basement. We had a contractor do the framing and run the electric, a plumber do the bathroom stuff, and I did a bit of HVAC and am planning on doing everything else. I started drywalling Monday evening - it has become my evening job, spending 4-5 hours down there each night. We should be finished with the walls and ready to paint by the middle of next week. Before: After: (coming soon) Share this post: email it! | bookmark it! | digg it!...

Pictures of summer project - new deck
As promised , here are a few pics of our summer project, a new deck. Well it wasn't actually my summer project to build it. It was my summer project to pay for it. But I/we did design it and provided a lot of feedback during the building process (in other words: lots of changes). Share this post: email it! | bookmark it! | digg it! | kick it! | live it!
Justice Gray on Chrome Domes
Justice Gray on Chrome Domes
The always controversial and sometimes correct ( see his 10 keys to happiness ), Justice Gray, reveals something new : " bald people cannot be trusted . ... bald people wander the earth with one purpose and one purpose only - to kill you and steal your sultry mane for their own" Hmmm. That may explain a few things. I wonder what my "friend", Tim Burke , has to say about this? Share this post: email it! | bookmark it! | digg it! | kick it! | live it!

Day 2 at Telligent ... (professional/private update)
Day 2 at Telligent ... (professional/private update)
Today is day 2 as part of the CS Team at Telligent Systems. That's the biggest news of course, but along with a short bio I sent out to the rest of the team yesterday I let some other tidbits go that I had been holding pretty close to the vest. More information (and pictures in some cases) to follow for each of these, but here are the highlights. 1. Yesterday - my first day at Telligent Systems. I couldn't be more pumped - I have admired the organization from afar for a long time. 2. My wife, Dawn...
Adventures in re-activating Windows XP Pro after motherboard failure
Adventures in re-activating Windows XP Pro after motherboard failure
A couple of weeks ago my workstation wouldn't turn on. First I swapped out power supplies, but that only proved to be part of the problem. Turns out my motherboard in my 2-1/2 year-old Dell Dimension 4200 had blown up, too. I went off to MicroCenter to buy a new motherboard, which turned out to be quite tough since it seems that socket 478 motherboards just are not that common any more. MicroCenter only had one in stock and it only had two slots for memory - BOOO! I could have sprung for a newer...
